Monarch butterflies migrate each year from the Northern United States all the way down to Mexico. But, no single butterfly makes the entire trip, or makes a return journey.

They breed new generations along the way. They fly until they die in the hopes that their grandchildren, or even their great-grandchildren, will be able to spend the winter in the warm sun.

The final generation, called the Methuselah generation, is the one to finally arrive.

This painting represents the lifelong effort we put into securing our children’s future.
